Your Chapter President
Jose Lamboglia
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 137, Web Page. We hope that you find it informative and interesting for both local and national issues. Let me personally thank Starr & Associates for assisting us in putting it together.
As many of you are aware, the last two years have confronted us with many issues. Promotions, shifts, minimum staffing, seven day work weeks and training are just a few of the areas we have been involved in. Additionally, we have had to keep our guard up for unexpected changes which the Congress and Executive branches continue to assault us with. These negotiations continue on as we speak.
With the dedication of your elected Executive Board, Shop Stewards and membership support, we continue to fight the fight and win the battles to keep your quality of life and working conditions at the highest level possible. We will continue to demand the highest level of treatment and respect for our membership that they deserve under all conditions.
In the past, it has been the position of unions in general to be reactive in dealing with issues that management has brought forth. We deal from a defensive position when this happens. We simply fight to keep what we have and are more in a position of "protection," then one of aggressively perusing changes. This is a position which I feel we should deviate from. We should now start to identifying problems and aggressively pursuing changes which are in the best interest of our membership. At the same time, these solutions should solve the problem which was identified in the first place.
For this reason, I am proposing that our staff and membership take the time to look around and identify problem areas which need our attention. I would also like you to identify solutions for the problem recognized. Once they are sent to our office for review, we will, with your assistance, request that the problems are addressed in the proper forum.
By being proactive instead of reactive, we can make the changes which are always necessary to keep any organization vibrant. At the same time, we can make these changes with the best interest of our membership in mind.
Again, welcome to our web page and I hope you find it useful in moving between the National Web page, Employee Express and the USDA financial Web.
